Description
This original hand-coloured print depicts seven striking wading and coursing birds against a subtle naturalistic landscape. Artist Mrs Holmes. Engraver J.W. Lowry. {ublished in London by R. Fellowes in November 1838.

> A central Great Bustard (O. Tarda) strides above a grassy mound, flanked by a Common Thick-Knee (Œ. Crepitans) top-left, Golden Plover (Char. Fluvialis) top-right, Grey Sand Piper (V. Melanogaster) lower-left, Pied Oyster-catcher (H. Ostralegus) centre-bottom, Brazen-winged Courser (Cur. Chalcopterus) bottom-left, and Margrave’s Cariama (D. Cristata) bottom-right.
