From The Legend of the Wandering Jew, first English edition published by Cassell Petter & Galpin in 1866 after illustrations by French artist Gustave Doré and engraved after Gouchard. Page measures 14 × 20 in.
Features rich tonal gradations in monochrome. Central figure stands elevated amongst battlefield carnage, with elaborate medieval architecture and spires dominating the background. Printed verse visible at bottom.
