Sourced from The New Naturalist The Sea Shore by C.M. Yonge, Regius professor of zoology in the University of Glasgow, published 1959 by Readers Union Collins. D. P. Wilson was a pioneering underwater photographer who developed specialized techniques for capturing marine life in their natural environments, often working in challenging conditions to document these rarely-seen underwater worlds.
Peacock-worms (Sabella pavonina) are filter feeders that extend beautiful fan-like tentacles to catch passing food particles, quickly retracting them when disturbed—a mesmerizing sight for early underwater photographers.
