**Background**
Sourced from The New Naturalist The Sea Shore by C.M. Yonge, Regius professor of zoology in the University of Glasgow, published 1959 by Readers Union Collins. D. P. Wilson was a pioneering underwater photographer who developed specialized techniques for capturing marine life in their natural environments, often working in challenging conditions to document these rarely-seen underwater worlds.
Lug-worms are vital ecosystem engineers, processing up to 80 pounds of sand annually through their digestive systems, aerating beach sediments and recycling nutrients.
