The base of the scutellum seems to reflect the colour of the posterior part of the pronotum and thus enhances the effect. In many regions of Europe, there are bugs with vivid colours that are sometimes bright red, but in the tropics, their forms are generally even stranger and their colours more varied. The scutellum is quite large. It is easily distinguished by its colours, the elytra of which are entirely coriaceous in the basal half, the membranous apical part being steel blue.
