All species of Sternotomis could be called variabilis, due to their extremely diverse patterns and colors: light green, blue-green, orange, etc. It is rare for two individuals to have the same markings. The males’ antennae are much longer than their bodies, while those of the females reach the ends of their elytra. These insects are very beautiful, but several of them can be harmful. One of their African relatives, the coffee longhorn beetle, gnaws the bark of branches and young shoots.
