A species of grasshopper belonging to the Romaleidae family, commonly known as lubber grasshoppers. It is a Neotropical species, primarily found in South America. The genus Zoniopoda is known for its diverse and colourful species, including Z. omnicolour. South American grasshopper from the subfamily Romaleinae appears, which produces sounds during flight. The mechanism for sound production"tegmino-alar stridulation mechanism" , wing edges that rub against each other during flight create the sound. Most other species of the subfamily Romaleinae are also found in South and Central America, some also in the southern United States, and a few in southwestern Asia and Somalia.
