c.1890 Yellow Parrakeet Bird Print - Magnificent Fruit Pigeon Horned Pheasant Great Bustard - Hand Coloured Ornithology Art - 9.5 x 6.5 in
This original hand-coloured print depicts four striking bird species — the Yellow Parrakeet, Magnificent Fruit Pigeon, Nepaul Horned Pheasant and Great Bustard. It measures approximately 9.5 × 6.5 in and was sourced from The Naturalist’s Library. Published around 1890.
> Visual Description: Set against a soft ivory ground, the top left shows a vibrant parakeet perched on a branch (No. 5), its yellow head and green wings contrasting with a rosy breast. Opposite (No. 6), a sleek fruit pigeon with a pale blue head and emerald plumage stands on a grassy patch. Below, a richly speckled red pheasant (No. 7) glares skyward, its striking blue throat wattle catching the eye. To the right (No. 8), the elegant Great Bustard, rendered in muted browns and greys, surveys the landscape with stately poise.
